1. What is one thing you hate doing?
Laundry! I always forget about it in the washer, have to dry each load about 3 times because our dryer sucks, and the whole folding/putting it away part? Ugh.

2. What is the one thing you hate shopping for?
Anything home improvement related because that’s way out of my element.

3. What is one thing you love doing?
Organizing. I get twitchy if things aren’t in their proper places!

4. What is one place you love going?
Shopping. Doesn’t matter if it’s grocery shopping, clothing shopping, window shopping, or just walking the mall with a friend – shopping is my happy place.

(I have an item in, item out rule; I don’t believe in hanging onto unused items when someone else could benefit from them!)

5. What is your favorite thing to do that you do daily?
Spend time with Jake, my family, and our furbabies. 🙂

1. What are you most looking forward to about Fall?
The weather. Although this Texan summer has not been as brutal as summers prior, I still welcome autumn breezes and pumpkin-flavoured everything!

2. What is your favorite sports team?
I do not like sports.

3. If you could go back to college is there one thing you would change?
I would have followed my heart and jumped into visual communications from day one.

4. What was your favorite class you ever took?
For the sheer amount of fun I had, my Introduction to Speech class back at community college. I had it with Jake and made friends with the other two people in our group cluster, which made everything better. Our teacher was also really chill and there was a lot of excellent banter between him and the class. Plus, I gave a speech over Mass Effect!

5. Reach into your purse what is the first thing you grab?
A Vera Bradley make up bag containing:
– B&BW hand sanitizer in “Aloha Orchid”
– Extra ponytails / hair clip
– EOS hand lotion

Social Sunday

1. Tell us about the family you grew up in, parents, siblings, grandparents.

I grew up with Mom, Dad, my maternal Grandma, older sister, younger brother, and niece. We were incredibly close-knit because we were the only family that we have in the south; a great majority of our extended family lives up north in the Illinois/Michigan area.

2. Tell us about your husband, fiancé, boyfriend, significant other.

Jake is my fiancĂ©! (Cue the “duhhh, Heather!”s)

He is very clever and loves to learn just for knowledge’s sake. (If we were born into money, I seriously believe he would be a “professional student”!) He is also a computer whiz and can build powerful custom PCs easily. (My computer is a rig that he built!) Jake is incredibly dedicated to his family and is one of the sweetest people ever if you can get past his prickly, sarcastic outer layer.

3. Tell us about your children. If you don’t have children, talk about your fur children.

My family has five furbabies but two of them are “mine.”

Samara is the second youngest and is a miracle kitty. Somehow, she found a vent or something underneath my car to hide in while I was on the clock at the retailer that I used to work for. I had no idea that she was there until a customer asked “who is the owner of that red car?” and when I claimed it as mine, she told me “well, it is meowing!” I was able to rescue Samara and I called Dad to come pick her up so I could finish my shift – we have had her ever since! Samara likes to follow me from room-to-room and “perches” on the back of my computer chair like an owl.

Arthas was part of a litter of stray kittens that we found. He was unique because most feral cats are black, brown, or a calico mix but he was white with blue eyes. It turned out that the litter was filled with incredibly sweet kittens, so through luck, we were able to find homes for the other five (while keeping Arthas and his sister, Jaina). Arthas and I formed a bond while he was still very young and he likes to take up residence in my bed / on the printer next to my computer desk.

4. Tell us about your best friends. How long have you known them? How did you meet?

Ashlea is my BFF (and my future maid of honour!) We have only known each other since sorority rush in 2013 but she is the kind of person that you feel like you have known all of your life. She is caring, open, honest, and generous. Ashlea was my rock through Taylor’s death, offering solace and a “taxi service” when I was too depressed to drive. She is the yin to my yang, the extrovert to my introvert, and we always have fun even if we are doing nothing at all.

Cynthia was my high school BFF and one of the people who made my high school experience suck less. We are not as close as we were back then thanks to life pulling us in different directions but I will always love her dearly and treasure the good times that we had. (And I will never not think of Shakira without cracking up, THANKS A LOT!)

5. Tell us about any other special people in your life.

My sorority chapter. I may not be close to every single girl in the chapter but we have an unbreakable bond through our ritual and that is a beautiful thing.
